Modern Entry Door & Custom Cabinetry- Picton

The Vision:

Set in a hillside home overlooking Picton Bay, this project required a modern entry door that would align with the clean architectural lines of the property. The client wanted the appearance of horizontal tongue-and-groove cladding — a detail that can present challenges due to seasonal wood movement.

To achieve the desired aesthetic without compromising stability, we engineered a custom veneered slab incorporating solid wood inserts for precise V-grooving, delivering the look of horizontal T&G with long-term structural integrity.

As the project evolved, the scope expanded to include vanities and built-in cabinetry throughout the home.

The Materials & Execution:

The cabinetry was designed to be furniture-grade, with refined detailing and subtle luxury throughout.

Black walnut dovetailed drawer boxes introduced warmth and craftsmanship to the wall-hung vanity, while a freestanding walnut vanity in the guest suite created a balanced focal point. Custom cabinets flanking the chimney breast provided integrated storage designed to feel architectural rather than purely functional.

The completed work blends engineered precision with natural material richness, complementing the modern architecture while introducing warmth and considered detail throughout the home.

If you are considering a similar project, we would be pleased to discuss how it might take shape in your own space.
